This is heartbreaking. After an astounding 14 years on the air, ‘Degrassi: The next Generation’ will end its run on TeenNick this summer. We’ve got all the deets on the final days of high school!

Looks like school is officially out. Degrassi: The Next Generation, the teenage drama that has been entertaining audiences since 2001, will officially conclude on TeenNick, the network announced on June 4. The series will wrap with a two week event, beginning with an hour-long episode on July 20, and culminating in an hour finale on July 31.

So long, kids. The controversial Canadian series will wrap, according to an official word from the network.

“For an incredible 14 seasons, Degrassi has been a groundbreaking show tackling so many important topics that real teens face in their everyday lives,” Keith Dawkins, SVP and general manager, Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick Jr, said. “In the final episodes on TeenNick and through the hour-long special and social activations, we hope to say goodbye in a way that is both fitting to the show and Degrassi’s passionate fan base.”

We know, we know, we’re sobbing too. But let’s think about all the good times we’ve had with the show, as well as everything that Degrassi has given us– including some major names!
The Famous Alum Of ‘Degrassi’

Very famously, rapper Drake, who is now known around the world for his musical stylings, actually got his start on the Canadian drama. Drake (whose real name is Aubrey Graham), played high school basketball star, Jimmy, who was at the center of one of the series’ most dramatic and iconic episodes. When a disturbed student brought a gun to school, he shot Jimmy in the back, paralyzing him from the waist down and effectively ending his basketball career.

Also appearing on the series, Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev had a recurring arc during the show’s sixth season, playing the show’s first teen mom. 90210 star Shenae Grimes also served some time walking the halls of Degrassi High in 2004.

Are you upset that Degrassi is ending?
