It’s the End of an Era! Degrassi Says Goodbye in This Heart-Wrenching Video

“It’s kind of hard to find a school with such a unique combo of school shootings and gonorrhea outbreaks.” Come on, you all know what show we’re talking about: Degrassi!

After “decades of drama,” Degrassi is finally coming to an end on TeenNick. No, we’re not crying. A tree branch just fell into our eye. While we were chopping onions and watching The Notebook at the same time.

After 14 seasons, Degrassi’s series finale event kicks off on Monday, July 20, and to help you adequately prepare to say goodbye, we have an exclusive video featuring the cult series’ most iconic, memorable and buzzed about moments. Here’s hoping you aren’t wearing mascara because tears will be fallin’, people! Oh, and we totally got chills when the end of the series was described as “jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring” and “heart-wrenching.”

In addition to the series finale event, which will run a new episode every night for two weeks, some of the series’ former stars, including Lauren Collins, Adamo Ruggiero, Jake Epstein, Stacey Farber and more, reuniting for an epic retrospective that will air on Friday, July 31, called It Goes There: Degrassi’s Most Talked About Moments, it’ll feature cast members and the creators sharing their favorite moments, so stock up on the ketchup fries for your viewing party now, eh!

After 14 seasons, TeenNick decided to drop out of Degrassi Community School. Fortunately, Netflix decided to enroll, announcing that the 15th season, Degrassi: Next Class, will air in 2016. Who knew we’d ever be so excited to stay in school?!

“We are energized and excited to work with Family Channel as we tell stories for the new post-millennial teen cohort known as Generation Z, most of whom weren’t even born when Degrassi returned in 2001.”Linda Schuyler, Degrassi co-creator and executive producer, said in a statement.

Degrassi’s series finale kicks off Monday, July 20 at 9 p.m. on TeenNick.

Degrassi’s Original Cast Reunites for Farewell Special

This is one high school reunion to which we’d definitely R.S.V.P.

Degrassi: The Next Generation‘s past and present is colliding this week as TeenNick films It Goes There: Degrassi‘s Most Talked-About Moments, a retrospective special airing July 31 (8/7c) in conjunction with the long-running drama’s series finale. (The follow-up series, Degrassi: Next Class, hits Netflix in 2016.)

Among the stars in attendance: Stacey Farber (Ellie), Lauren Collins (Paige), Shane Kippel (Spinner), Jake Epstein (Craig), Charlotte Arnold (Holly J.), Miriam McDonald (Emma), Ana Golja (Zoe), Annie Clark (Fiona), Aislinn Paul (Clare), Jordan Todosey (Adam), Luke Bilyk (Drew) Paula Brancati (Jane) and Raymond Ablack (Sav). Naturally, Adamo Ruggiero (Marco) served as host.

Photos are still trickling in — we’ll be updating our gallery as more are tweeted, Instagram’d, etc. — but from what we’ve seen so far, this special is going to be epic.

Degrassi Officially Canceled

This is heartbreaking. After an astounding 14 years on the air, ‘Degrassi: The next Generation’ will end its run on TeenNick this summer. We’ve got all the deets on the final days of high school!

Looks like school is officially out. Degrassi: The Next Generation, the teenage drama that has been entertaining audiences since 2001, will officially conclude on TeenNick, the network announced on June 4. The series will wrap with a two week event, beginning with an hour-long episode on July 20, and culminating in an hour finale on July 31.

So long, kids. The controversial Canadian series will wrap, according to an official word from the network.

“For an incredible 14 seasons, Degrassi has been a groundbreaking show tackling so many important topics that real teens face in their everyday lives,” Keith Dawkins, SVP and general manager, Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick Jr, said. “In the final episodes on TeenNick and through the hour-long special and social activations, we hope to say goodbye in a way that is both fitting to the show and Degrassi’s passionate fan base.”

We know, we know, we’re sobbing too. But let’s think about all the good times we’ve had with the show, as well as everything that Degrassi has given us– including some major names!
The Famous Alum Of ‘Degrassi’

Very famously, rapper Drake, who is now known around the world for his musical stylings, actually got his start on the Canadian drama. Drake (whose real name is Aubrey Graham), played high school basketball star, Jimmy, who was at the center of one of the series’ most dramatic and iconic episodes. When a disturbed student brought a gun to school, he shot Jimmy in the back, paralyzing him from the waist down and effectively ending his basketball career.

Also appearing on the series, Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev had a recurring arc during the show’s sixth season, playing the show’s first teen mom. 90210 star Shenae Grimes also served some time walking the halls of Degrassi High in 2004.

Are you upset that Degrassi is ending?
